“Oil paint is the medium that I gravitate the most towards. Naturally, after getting a Janus motorcycle, I had to paint it. It’s really fun painting machines, when you get up close to the innards of it all it becomes almost like abstract shapes and lines. I referenced the figure from a piece by one of my favorite painters, Andrew Wyeth. I wanted to pay some respects to him and the work he did in his lifetime.
I was born and raised in the midwest, specifically Ohio. Here in the midwest, we don’t have mountains or oceans to ponder, so we have to search harder to find that serenity in the landscapes here. As I grow older and spend more time riding through this land, I appreciate the midwestern’s rolling hills and fields more and more. The beauty is here, you just have to go out and find it. That’s why this piece is called “Avoiding Highways”.”-Reilly StasienkoRead More
